Sixty Years

Saturday 20th April 2024 @

Brooklands Museum, Weybridge, Surrey.

After nearly two years of planning, the big day finally arrived, and it was amazing.

Friday afternoon setup was followed by a chilly but bright Saturday morning. By 7am, the admin team and volunteers were setting up our display area. By 8:30, we were ready to welcome 187 member cars, an exceptional turnout.

Brooklands marshals handled other club areas, and cars kept coming, far exceeding the 400 registered. The site soon filled with over 800 display cars and 3,000 attendees.

With American cars, TV & Film cars, Hot Rods, Harley Davidsons, live entertainment, and excellent catering, the event was exceptional. We thank everyone for their support.

The only question is, how do we follow that?

FORD MUSTANG

(1964 - 2024)

The worlds first 'Pony Car'.

The Ford Mustang was unveiled by Henry Ford II at the World’s Fair in New York on April 17, 1964, as both hardtop and convertible models. That day, nearly 22,000 Mustangs were sold. A fastback version followed in August 1964.

The Mustang appeared in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger” in 1964 and the Steve McQueen movie “Bullitt” in 1968. It has since featured in hundreds of movies.

Ford sold over 400,000 Mustangs in its first year. By March 1966, the one millionth Mustang was produced, and within three years, 500 Mustang fan clubs had formed.

Seven generations and nearly sixty years later, the Mustang remains an iconic car.
